By utilizing the Weather-Tight Shell Framing System from Classic Colonial
Homes, Inc. we can an assure your new home’s exterior will look
exactly as designed, according to the plans you purchase. CCH, Inc.
provides a factory manufactured framing system that is erected on your
building site by a CCH-provided trained & experienced contracting
firm resulting in a high quality weather-tight shell, usually in a week
or less. In this manner, CCH guarantees to clients a new standard of
accuracy, speed, aesthetic control and value to our clients. As always,
our homes boast authentic character, exacting proportions & remarkable
period detailing packages which have become hallmarks of our company.
Factory Frame
Creation - A 3-Step Process
1 - Engineering & Quoting
Classic Colonial Home Plans are converted into working production
prints and used to estimate the materials for a given home. A
specialized team of design staff and engineers collaborate to
generate an accurate quotation of the Weather-Tight Shell, a number
that we can stand behind and guarantee. Once the designs are confirmed
by CCH and the client, the production prints are then used to
program an array of fabrication equipment, specially designed
to construct the individual house frame panels from raw materials.

2 - Factory Component Production & Delivery
Conventional stick built on site framing is the standard method
of residential framing construction in New England and across
the greater United States. In this process, 2 X 4 wooden studs
and sheet plywood are used to construct the framework of the house.
Unfortunately, this popular system of on-site, piece by piece
assembly is notorious for a high percentage of errors, waste,
mistakes and inefficiency, factors both within (eg. human error)
and beyond (eg. weather) our control.

The same time tested raw materials are employed in the creation
of a Classic Colonial Homes’ weather-tight shell. Critical
planning, sizing, cutting and partial assembly are conducted in
a controlled factory environment to ensure greater accuracy &
quality while reducing time to completion. Raw materials never
leave the lumberyard. They are first sorted to ensure every piece
meets highest standard of quality. The floor panels, wall panels
and roof system are measured & cut, then assembled and stacked
for delivery. A predetermined installation schedule is timed according
to completion and backfilling of the foundation (handled by the
client’s builder). The entire factory production process
is carefully monitored and controlled by highly trained factory
personnel.

3 - Frame Assembly
& Shell Completion
For this final step in the Weather-Tight Shell fabrication, Classic
Colonial Homes, Inc. provides an experienced building company to
assemble the factory built panels and components on site. A crane
or Lull is used to hoist and set the individual sections of the
floor decking, exterior and interior wall and rafter system to create
the basic bones of the structure. Although the resulting frame looks
no different from one constructed in the field, in fact this shell
is superior to it’s site built counterparts. Finally our exclusive
custom milled architectural detailing packages (exterior trim, custom
detailed windows & doors, roofing system, siding) are installed,
the roof is shingled and within a few days (compared to weeks using
the conventional site framing process) the perfectly accurate and
secure, weather tight shell is complete! |
